What can I do in my community to start a local program?
-   Talk to your school principal. See if he or she would be interested in supporting your ideas.
-   Meet with your City Council. If the school won’t help, the city will.
-   Get volunteers and do it yourself. Call the local newspapers for coverage of your event.

National Environment Programs that you can get involved in:
Environmental Protection Agency
National Wildlife Federation
National Park Service
The Nature Conservancy

Many different organizations also give awards to students who implement their innovative ideas for environmental programs at their schools and in their communities. One example of this is the Green Youth Award. Be recognized for your efforts to protect our environment!
